Sounds very wacko. If recruitment tools like this are being used at church, imagine all the other contexts this kind of stuff is taking place in.
Maybe I'm a little retro (and about some things I am), but an attempt to ape popular culture or be overly familiar and be my "pal" to draw me into greater involvement at Church would really turn me off. I responded to the opposite approach, one demonstrating a degree of intellectual rigor -- scriptural analysis, historical context, etc. But I'm bookish.
